Types of visits and fees

Naturopathic Visits

1. Comprehensive Naturopathic Assessment includes complete health assessment (medical history, current concerns and physical exam) and an individualized treatment plan. The time allotted and fee for the initial visit varies with age (see below). After your child's initial visit, you can schedule shorter follow up visits for your child. One aspect of naturopathic medicine is preventative care. Ideally, parents are encouraged to bring their children in for well child visits at 2, 4, 6 and 12, 18 months and 2 years. Parents may also select to bring their child in when they notice one or more symptoms in their child. Symptoms are an indication that there is an imbalance in the body. Naturopathic approach focuses on identifying the imbalance and address it using safe, effective and natural medicine.

a) Young Child (under 5) is 1 hour ($130). Please note that this initial appointment is not necessary if you have already scheduled a Vaccine Consult and Support visit.

b) 2 Young Siblings (both under 5) is 2 hours ($200).

c) Older Child or Adolescent (5-12 years) is 90 minutes ($180)

"Your gentle way with children and willingness to share your knowledge is much appreciated. Thank you."
~Tanya W, mother of 2 in Toronto, Ontario.

2. Detox for Kids is a 2 hour naturopathic appointment which includes an information session about how to safely detoxify your child at home, a health assessment and a personal natural detoxification plan (such as including herbs, homeopathics, nutritional supplements).  Children are much more susceptible to the toxic effects of chemicals than adults and kids also have a higher risk of exposure.  This visit is suitable for any child, especially those who have either had an increased exposure to toxins (through vaccines, medications, plastics, pesticides or other chemicals) or who have signs of toxicity.  Signs that your child would benefit from a detox include any of the following: dark circles under eyes, puffiness under eyes, allergies, eczema, rashes, mood swings, irritable, difficulty focusing or sleeping, tummy aches, constipation, diarrhea, runny nose, swollen lymph nodes.  Reduce your child’s toxic load and their risk of long term health issues. This visit is only currently available in person (new clinic location is at Yonge and Eglinton). ($200)

3. Annual Check Ups, Well Child Visits and Follow-up Naturopathic Visits are 20 - 60 minutes. They can be scheduled after the Comprehensive Naturopathic Assessment or the Vaccine Consult and Support visit (below).

Vaccination Consultations

4. Vaccine Consult is a 1 hour information session and includes answers to your questions and concerns about childhood vaccinations in a non-judgmental way. Current and relevant information is provided about vaccine preventable diseases, vaccination options, vaccination contraindications, how to minimize the adverse effects of vaccinations and much more. Vaccine information handouts are provided. Note that no specific treatment information is discussed and receipts read ‘Vaccine Consult’ not ‘Naturopathic Visit’. This consult is available by phone to anyone in Canada. Long distance calls are toll free. If you have been refered by your doctor, Dr. Bailetti will send a report to your doctor at your request. ($130). For FAQs about vaccine consults, click here.

"My intention is to provide parents with information and resources about children’s vaccines in Canada and to support them through their decision-making process through non-judgmental discussions.  Some of my clients decide to vaccinate their child(ren), others decide not to.  Regardless of their final decision, I do my best to offer the best natural health care possible."
~Dr. Bailetti

"Thank you Dr. Bailetti for helping us sift through the abundance of conflicting information about childhood vaccines. After our visit with you we feel much more comfortable making vaccine decisions."
~
Abigail R, mother of 3 in Edmonton, Alberta

"Dr. Bailetti's 1 hour Vaccine Consult was very informative. She gave us the information we needed to confidently make the right vaccination decision for our baby."
~ Emma and Ed G, parents in Toronto, Ontario

"Dr. Katia Bailetti is a wonderful resource for my patients. I have referred
a number of my young parents to Dr Bailetti in order for them to gain
insight on the confusing subject of childhood vaccination. She has given
them valuable objective information that has enabled them to make educated, informed and empowered choices for their children and families. The information she presents is extensively researched and non-biased. After a consult with Dr Bailetti some of my families have chosen to vaccinate, others have chosen not to - the key is in all cases it is their own choice, based on the knowledge they have gained through their phone consultation with Dr Bailetti."
~
Dr. Julie Zepp Rutledge, Naturopathic Doctor in Regina, Saskatchewan

"It's about time that someone provided such a valuable and needed service.  Dr. Bailetti has done a comprehensive survey of vaccinations, and presents the material in a balanced manner. This is informed consent at its' best, and I am thrilled to have a referral for my patients who are struggling with these difficult parenting decisions."
~ Dr. Jennifer Baer, Naturopathic Doctor and Clinic Director of Body of Knowledge Healing Arts in Toronto, Ontario

Follow-up Naturopathic Visits and Follow-up Vaccine Consults can be scheduled after this visit. This visit is only currently available in person. If you are already under the care of a naturopathic doctor, please schedule a 1-hour Vaccine Consult as you will be referred back to your ND for vaccine support. Insurance coverage

Most extended health care plans now cover visits to licensed naturopathic doctors because employers and insurance companies are realizing that offering naturopathic benefits to their employees keeps people healthier and more productive. At the end of each visit, you will be provided with an invoice to submit to your health insurance provider. Please note that Vaccine Consults are not considered naturopathic visits.

Naturopathic visits are also tax deductible as medical expenses.

FAQs

When should I schedule a Naturopathic Visit for my baby?

What follows is an ideal pediatric visit schedule.  The timing is flexible (e.g. if your child is already 5 years old, you can still schedule a Sick Baby Care, Vaccine Consult and Brain Boost visit).  This schedule does not replace the pediatric medical visits with your child’s medical doctor.

*Note that the Vaccine Consult and the Initial Naturopathic Visit can be replaced by a 2-hour Vaccine Consult and Support visit, if Vaccines are your primary health concern.

Before arrival of baby: 1-hour Vaccination Consultation and Support to discuss your options, questions and concerns regarding childhood vaccinations.  Parents-to-be are encouraged to schedule the visit before the baby arrives due to the complexity of this topic and the need for personal research and reflection.

6 weeks old: 30 minute Natural Baby Care to discuss how to select safe baby care products (e.g. soaps, toothpaste, sunscreen), list of recommended products included.  Discuss natural bathing, clothing and parenting strategies.

2 months old: schedule a 1-hour Initial Naturopathic Visit to discuss keeping your child healthy, breastfeeding concerns, natural baby care, developmental milestones or any health concerns you may have. Schedule an appointment as soon as possible if your baby has feeding or growth difficulties or any other symptoms that concern you.

4-6 months old: schedule a 30-minute Food Introduction for Infants to minimize your child’s risk of food allergies and associated chronic health conditions.

6 months old: schedule a 30-minute Sick Baby Care to discuss how to safely assess your child’s temperature, when to seek medical help and how to safely lower a fever and support your child’s immune system using natural medicines.

12 months old: schedule a 30-minute Healthy Toddler Visit to discuss natural parenting strategies for toddlers, transition to daycare, extended breastfeeding, developmental milestones, toilet learning and other health concerns.

18 months old: schedule a 30-minute Brain Boost Visit to help maximize your child’s learning potential in daycare/pre-school/school.

2 years old and older: schedule a 45 minute Annual Follow-up Naturopathic Visit to complete an annual physical exam to monitor growth and development and address/monitor any health concerns.

ANY TIME: Schedule an appointment as soon as possible if your child has an ear infection, skin rash, fever, flu-like symptoms, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, teething, cradle cap or any other symptoms that concern you.

When should I schedule a Vaccine Consult?

Ideally, Vaccination Consultations are scheduled during pregnancy so that you can take your time with your childhood vaccination decisions.  After your baby arrives, it is difficult to find the time to do research and have time to yourself to ponder this complex topic.  However, babies are always welcome to attend Vaccination Consultations

Vaccination Consultations should be scheduled 1-3 weeks before the next vaccination visit (which begins at 2 months5-7 weeks of age).  This allows enough time to begin natural vaccine support.  If parents intend to follow the recommended childhood vaccination schedule, a Vaccination Consultation at 5-7 weeks is recommended.

Should my child also see a pediatrician?

I recommend that all my clients regularly visit their pediatirican or family medical doctor even if they are under the regular care of a naturopathic doctor.  Most family doctors will treat children, however, many parents are more comfortable with someone who specializes in treating children, therefore they opt for a pediatrician.

In the first few years of life, it is especially important to keep regular medical appointments.  Many people who are eventually diagnosed with a health condition show signs and symptoms for years prior to diagnosis.  These signs and symptoms are messages from the body saying that something is not right.  Identifying imbalances early is essential to preventing chronic health conditions.  Naturopathic doctors are trained to work with medical professionals to provide high-quality integrative health care. Please read Katia's letter to medical doctors and bring a copy to your next doctor's visit.

What if I have already decided not to vaccinate my child?

If you have already decided not to vaccinate your child, I suggest you schedule an Initial Naturopathic Visit for your child to discuss preventing infections and strengthening the immune system during times of high risk, (e.g. travel, daycare, school, flu season).  This appointment also enables you to schedule shorter visits to discuss other health concerns, (e.g., colic, eczema, flu).

What do you suggest if I have already decided to vaccinate my child?

If you have already decided to vaccinate your child, I suggest you schedule an Initial Naturopathic Visit for your child to discuss natural vaccine support strategies.  These treatments typically begin 1-3 weeks before each vaccine and continue for 1-3 weeks after each vaccine.

Are you for or against vaccinations?

I do not hold a strong opinion for or against vaccination.  My focus is to provide parents with information and resources about children’s vaccines in Canada and to support them through their decision-making process through non-judgmental discussions.  Some of my clients decide to vaccinate their child(ren), others decide not to.  Regardless of their final decision, I do my best to offer the best natural health care possible.

Is naturopathic medicine covered by insurance?

Most extended health care plans now cover visits to licensed naturopathic doctors because employers and insurance companies are realizing that offering naturopathic benefits to their employees keeps people healthier and more productive. At the end of each visit, you will be provided with an invoice to submit to your health insurance provider.

Naturopathic visits are also tax deductible as medical expenses.
